my law:

If I could make a new law it would be to legalize marijuana. I believe that marijuana is not hamrful, and only gives you good effects. First of all, Marijuana helps many things just like a depressent. It helps headaches, soothes you and eases your mind. Marijuana is not only to get 'high', but it also can help you in many ways. Alcohol is worse then Marijuana in many ways. Alcohol messes up your liver, addicting, changes vision, able to talk, and able to function. This is over all worse then Marijuana. Many people have died because of Alcohol consumption and nobody has ever died from Marijuana.

Faith In Friendships.

Something I wish that I could believe in again is best friends. I use to believe that everyone has a best friend, someone that will always love you unconditionally, never judge you, & no matter what, they'd always be there. But  I recently started believing that everyone will screw you over, that no promises ever go unbroken, and that you should never trust anyone. I wish that I didn't think so negatively, but recent events in my life have made me lose all belief in the term "best friends." I wish when people "trust me" I could & I wish I would stop telling myself "you don't need anyone, you're better off alone." I wish I could look at people in my life & know that they will always be there, but these expectations of people always lead to disappointment, so I no longer bother getting my hopes up.

outside looking in.

Some people are big on the outside, yet are same on the inside. I, personally know someone just like that. They look like they are big, & hard to break down, yet on the inside they are really shy & sensitive. There are also people who are the exact opposite, people who are small on the outside who are big on the inside. These people are small in size yet have big, bold personalities. Sometimes peoples personalities match their appearances but that is not always the case. If inner beauty was directly related to outer beauty, many people would look different. Some people we may think are beautiful, may not seem as beautiful if they looked as beautiful as they are in the inside, just like some people who we may not think are as beautiful may be if they looked like they do on the inside.

Extroverts & Introverts

I believe that I am an extrovert. I think that introverts have it easier because they don't have to worry about people & they mostly have to focus on what is important to them. If everyone was an extrovert this could possibly be a problem because everyone would try & be a leader but there would be no followers. If everyone was an introvert, this would also be as problem because people would rarely interact with each other & no one would ever take charge so nothing would ever get done. I prefer to have extroverts as friends because I think they'd be more fun to hang out with where as an introvert would not talk very much & may not want to hang out very often. Extroverts are better leaders because they can talk to more people. Introverts might be better writers because they spend a lot of time by themselves, giving them time to think more. Either could be a good neighbor, some people like to get to know their neighbors, in which an extrovert would be good, but others just like their neighbors to be respectful & quite, in which an introvert would be good. Extroverts would make better teachers because they would talk to the students more & be more of leaders. Extroverts & introverts matter a lot because they make up who we are & give us a more diverse society.

Your Living Conditions as a Child May Be Detectable In Your DNA for Life

Epigenetics- the study of heritable changes that occur without a change in the DNA sequence

Examples of such changes might be DNA methylation or histone deacetylation, both of which serve to suppress gene expression without altering the sequence of the silenced genes

three interesting thing I've found in this article were that the geneticist name was Snoop Dog, that

future research could peg where certain methylation differences are associated with specific diseases, & they found that 1,252 methylation differences were associated with socio-economic circumstances in early life while just 545 were associated with socio-economic circumstances in adulthood.

I do not see this in my family.

You know their name, not their story.

Deep Sea Amoebas

This article was very interesting because it told you how scientist study under sea life.
What is the Mariana Trench?  Where is it located?-  The Mariana is the deepest region on Earth. It is located in the Pacific Ocean.
What are xenophyophores? Xenophyophores are single-celled animals exclusively found in deep-sea environments.
How are the researchers able to capture such great images on the deep water camera? Researchers are able to capture great images on the deep water camera by luring sea floor animals to the camera with bait then recording with with drop cameras.

My road, my path, my journey.

My road is occasionally littered with construction. For the most part it is smooth and easy to travel, but there are times where it gets a little messy. My close friends & family are traveling this road with me, & make my journey much more happy & bearable. I don't have a specific, set destination yet in my life. Although overall, I would just like to be happy. At the end of my road, hopefully I will have my own home, family, be a psychologist, open up my own bakery, & write a book. Some roadblocks that may try to stop me are me doubting myself, money for collage, or me not trying hard enough. I can over come these roadblocks by saving up my money and getting scholarships, thinking positive, and trying my hardest.

Forgiving, but not forgetting .

We've all had other hurt us in our lives. Whether is was something they said to us, about us, or something they did to us. The pain is normal to feel, but we can't let it affect our lives forever. If someone has done you wrong, you shouldn't waste your time dwelling on it & being upset over it, they should. To move on from a bad experience with a person you must forgive them. Sometimes we feel like people aren't  deserving of our forgiveness when really forgiving them is more beneficial to us then it is to the one that hurt us.  Just because you're forgiving someone doesn't mean you have to let that person back into your life. Forgiving someone is more about coming to peace with yourself about what happened. It's saying to yourself "What this person did to me is wrong, but its over now, I'm done worry about it. I'm going to learn & grow from this & move on." Once you do this, you can finally be happy with yourself & your life.

Thought for the day: Life Law 6

I think the lens was very relevant to me. I often use the "The Authority Lens" "The Victim Lens" "The Hate Lens" & "The Safety Lens" I also think that I can be very close minded & let the tapes influence my thoughts to the point where I don't give people a chance anymore. I think other people do that too. You are so quick to judge people based off your past experiences in life, that you never give people a chance, & you end up shutting people out or pushing them away. But you do have the power to change all those things. You just have to change your perceptions on life.

Key Protein In Cellular Respiration Discovered

This article was over cellular respiration. It talked about what happens during it, & why is happens. It also talked about how it can be used & how scientist study it.

mitochondria- an organelle in the cytoplasm of cells that functions in energy production.

cellular respiration- is the set of the metabolic reactions and processes that take place in organisms' cells to convert biochemical energy from nutrients into adenosine triphosphate (ATP), and then release waste products.

protein- any of numerous, highly varied organic molecules constituting a large portion of the mass of every life form and necessary in the diet of all animals and other nonphotosynthesizing organisms

Thought for the day

Life Law Chapter 5:

Something I liked in this chapter was when it talked about telling the people you love how much they mean to you while you still can. I always try to tell people how much they mean to me because you never know how much time you have left. I'm also very quick to apologize about things because you never know, that mean comment you just made may be the last thing you ever say to that person.

A child said, what is the grass?

  A child said, What is the grass? fetching it to me with full
hands;
How could I answer the child?. . . .I do not know what it
is any more than he.

I guess it must be the flag of my disposition, out of hopeful
green stuff woven.

Or I guess it is the handkerchief of the Lord,
A scented gift and remembrancer designedly dropped,
Bearing the owner's name someway in the corners, that we
may see and remark, and say Whose?

Or I guess the grass is itself a child. . . .the produced babe
of the vegetation.

Or I guess it is a uniform hieroglyphic,
And it means, Sprouting alike in broad zones and narrow
zones,
Growing among black folks as among white,
Kanuck, Tuckahoe, Congressman, Cuff, I give them the
same, I receive them the same.

And now it seems to me the beautiful uncut hair of graves.

Tenderly will I use you curling grass,
It may be you transpire from the breasts of young men,
It may be if I had known them I would have loved them;
It may be you are from old people and from women, and
from offspring taken soon out of their mother's laps,
And here you are the mother's laps.

This grass is very dark to be from the white heads of old
mothers,
Darker than the colorless beards of old men,
Dark to come from under the faint red roofs of mouths.

O I perceive after all so many uttering tongues!
And I perceive they do not come from the roofs of mouths
for nothing.

I wish I could translate the hints about the dead young men
and women,
And the hints about old men and mothers, and the offspring
taken soon out of their laps.

What do you think has become of the young and old men?
What do you think has become of the women and
children?

They are alive and well somewhere;
The smallest sprouts show there is really no death,
And if ever there was it led forward life, and does not wait
at the end to arrest it,
And ceased the moment life appeared.

All goes onward and outward. . . .and nothing collapses,
And to die is different from what any one supposed, and
luckier.

I liked this poem because it shows how sometimes when children ask us questions like what is the grass or why is the sky blue we don't always have the best or answer, or even really know why.

Whoever you are, Holding me now in Hand.

  WHOEVER you are, holding me now in hand,
Without one thing, all will be useless,
I give you fair warning, before you attempt me
         further,
I am not what you supposed, but far different.

  Who is he that would become my follower?
Who would sign himself a candidate for my affections?

 The way is suspicious—the result uncertain, perhaps
         destructive;
You would have to give up all else—I alone would ex-
         pect to be your God, sole and exclusive,
Your novitiate would even then be long and exhaust-
         ing,
The whole past theory of your life, and all conformity
         to the lives around you, would have to be aban-
         doned;
Therefore release me now, before troubling yourself
         any further—Let go your hand from my
         shoulders,
Put me down, and depart on your way.

  Or else, by stealth, in some wood, for trial,
Or back of a rock, in the open air,
(For in any roof'd room of a house I emerge not—nor
         in company,

And in libraries I lie as one dumb, a gawk, or unborn,
         or dead,)
But just possibly with you on a high hill—first watch-
         ing lest any person, for miles around, ap-
         proach unawares,
Or possibly with you sailing at sea, or on the beach of
         the sea, or some quiet island,
Here to put your lips upon mine I permit you,
With the comrade's long-dwelling kiss, or the new
         husband's kiss,
For I am the new husband, and I am the comrade.

Or, if you will, thrusting me beneath your clothing,
Where I may feel the throbs of your heart, or rest
         upon your hip,
Carry me when you go forth over land or sea;
For thus, merely touching you, is enough—is best,
And thus, touching you, would I silently sleep and be
         carried eternally.

  But these leaves conning, you con at peril,
For these leaves, and me, you will not understand,
They will elude you at first, and still more afterward
         —I will certainly elude you,
Even while you should think you had unquestionably
         caught me, behold!
Already you see I have escaped from you.

For it is not for what I have put into it that I have
         written this book,
Nor is it by reading it you will acquire it,
Nor do those know me best who admire me, and
         vauntingly praise me,
Nor will the candidates for my love, (unless at most a
         very few,) prove victorious,
Nor will my poems do good only—they will do just as
         much evil, perhaps more;
For all is useless without that which you may guess at
         many times and not hit—that which I hinted at;
Therefore release me, and depart on your way.

New Sub-Cellular Structure Discovered

I thought this article was very interesting. It showed how important cell division & is in every day lives. It showed how  knowing about this may even help us to find the cure to cancer! More research should be put towards know about this so that we can find the cure &, I'm sure, many other good things will come out for knowing about cell division.

If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always gotten.

What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger.

Have you ever had that thing in life that you'd never want to relive? That you spent countless hours stressing & cry over? Well, no matter how bad it seemed at the time you made it through it. You're alive & you survived. Even though at the time it seemed like the end of the world, you learned something from that experience. It made you a stronger & wiser person & it's experiences like that who help make us who we are. Next time you're dealing with something in life that you think that you can't handle, just remember to keep you're head up, stay strong, & take from the situation what you can.

Sophmore year;

I expected it to be just like my freshman year, but it's so much different! My classes & teachers so so different & a lot more is expected out of us. I'm taking mostly honors classes, but a lot of non-honors are mixed in with us so it's not like being in honors has really given me extra work to do. I'm expecting this year to have a lot more work than last year. I expecting to actually have to study if I want to pass a test because the test this year are a little harder than lasts years. On the plus side I'm doing a lot better in Spanish than I did last year! I really want to not only do well in my school & athletics this year but also have fun with my friends & in & out of school activities!
